World crude steel production for the 65 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 136.5 million tonnes (Mt) in October 2016, 3.3% up on October 2015.

China’s crude steel production for October 2016 was 68.5 Mt, an increase of 4.0% compared to October 2015. Elsewhere in Asia, Japan produced 9.0 Mt of crude steel in October 2016, an increase of 0.6% compared to October 2015. India’s crude steel production was 8.3 Mt in October 2016, up by 12.3% on October 2015.

Copper slid more than 1 percent on Wednesday, easing from last session's one-year peak as every new exit poll in the U.S. presidential election indicated a very tight race.

Brazil’s primary aluminium export volumes rose 31.5% in October from October last year. Total primary aluminium shipments from Brazil were 22,689 tonnes in October against 17,252 tonnes last year. Brazil’s primary aluminium shipments in January to October were 274,102 tonnes up from 248,191 tonnes in the corresponding period last year.
